Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., returned to public view in her home state on Friday after spending nearly two weeks away following a federal search of her Washington, D.C., residence. She posted a video to X showing herself and her husband, Tim Mynett, walking on a dock over a lake with fall foliage in the background. The pair smiled and chatted as they strolled, with Omar holding a coffee cup. The post ended with a montage of images from the walk.

The congresswoman captioned the post, "Less scrolling, more strolling. Enjoying our beautiful Minnesota lakes." While the visual content was calm, the audio featured a loud Somali hip-hop track with aggressive lyrics. A translation obtained by Fox News Digital stated the song boasts that "No enemy dares threaten me, wherever I step, they scatter." It continued, "They flee and stay far away. I have always been the source of their distress."

The track, titled "Nimaan Ciilayba Icaaya," is by U.S.-based Somali singer and rapper Ilkacase Qays, whose real name is Muse Abdikadir. The duet features Somali singer Hodan Abdirahman. The lyrics describe the artist using strength to "crush the enemy underfoot" and teach opponents a lesson by evening. A cultural analysis described the song as an example of Somali lyrical poetry built around pride, bravery, and personal dignity.

Omar first left the public eye after agents from Homeland Security Investigations searched her Washington home on Oct. 12, 2026. The search was part of a criminal investigation into potential fraud related to immigration paperwork filed by Omar or her father during her naturalization process. During the raid, federal agents confiscated her passport and cellphone. Her sister, Sahra Noor, was interviewed by investigators, and federal agents have obtained Omar's DNA, according to Fox News Digital.

On Friday, media followed Omar closely as she cast an early ballot alongside Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison in Minneapolis. The two then visited the Karmel Mall of Somalia in Minneapolis, where they ate lunch with members of the Somali community and posed for photographs. Omar restricted replies to her social media post, allowing only one public comment from former Rep. Cori Bush, who wrote, "We love this."

If fraud is proven, Omar could face denaturalization, according to border czar Tom Homan, who made the statement last week. HSI is the primary investigatory agency for the Department of Homeland Security. Omar, whose full name is Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, is running for reelection in the current cycle.

The timing of the video filming remains unclear, though it was posted on Friday. The song's lyrics include lines such as, "You go without sleep, overcome with anguish, weeping in spite." It also states, "A fool’s words carry no weight. Those I have angered now insult me." The artist is described as using exaggerated imagery to ridicule opponents, portraying them as desperate and sleepless.
